Abstract

The short story came into being as a result of the detailed
length of the narrative and novels along the engrossment of man in
daily life. The history of Urdu short story is based on a century.
Under the influence of the west the genre of prose started in the late
19th century and early 20th century. This era comprised of different
changes based on intellect, social, cultural and political aspect. Under
Sir Syed’s movement different genres reached their development.
The era of narration and the trend of fantasy which was present in it
came to an end. It was replaced by the relatives of life. Especially the
novel and short stories brought forth the relief of life in front of us.
With all its technical specialties the Urdu short history made its path.
Yaldram, Prem Chand, Rashid Ali Khairi are important names in
Urdu literature, whose short stories have the aspect of spiritualism
and reality
