Characteristic Features of “Hamd” written by Iqbal Najmi

Abstract

Poetry in Praise of Almighty Allah written by Muhammad Iqbal
Najmi, has been reviewed with introductory feature and life sketch of
the poet. 10 books of Praise Poetry, in Punjabi and Urdu languages
are on credit of Iqbal Najmi. Two books i.e. Hamdia Diwan and
Hamdia Hike made the poet a pioneer in the domain of Punjabi poetic
history. Riyaaz-e-Hamd, a book containing praise poetry, is also
termed first one written as long poem in one prosodic metre.
