Man is a social animal. Society is made up of various units. Some
incidents that apparently seem to be quite trivial and some ordinary,
mundane behavior not only cause mental disharmony and frustration,
they also cause imbalanced social attitudes which give way to a never
ending cycle of mental problems. The Punjabi novelists have keenly
observed the social behaviours. They have portrayed these behaviours
and psychology with a mature, contemplating style amalgamated with
the consciousness and observation of contemporary issues. Their
style speaks volumes for their objectivity. It is evident through their
novels that are an ample proof of their beautiful portrayal of day to
day life and ordinary man’s dilemmas. This thesis aims at the various
aspects of social behavior portrayed and discussed in the Punjabi
novels.
