Dr. SaadatSaeed was born in Sahiwal but settled in Lahore for a long time. He is known as a scholar, critic and translator also but the most vibrant reference of his literary personality is poetry. In poetry, he preferred to write in the genre of free verse and prose verse. Five collections of SaadatSaeed's poems came to the fore, in which there is an inclination towards modernity in the early poems, and he made many experiments in the field of linguistic formations. He accepted the influence of IftikharJalib's movement in creating a new poetic language in the early times of creative writing. He has also been inclined towards existentialism. Although he did not write ideological poems like renowned progressive poets i.e. Majaz, SardarJaffery, Makhdoom&Jalib as he was never in favor of sloganeering in literature but he has always been representing deprived classes. As a progressive poet, his stance becomes clearer in last one decade. In this article, an analytical study of SaadatSaeed's poems is presented.
