An Analysis of Concept of Love in Short Stories of Ashfaq Ahmad

Abstract

This article is an effort to identify the nature and treatment of love
sentiments in short stories of Ishafaq Ahmed [1925-2004]. For the
purpose, all major collections of short stories are scanned, and special
attention is paid to detect characters and their mutual relation. The
results discovered two major original treatments traits of Ishafaq
Ahamed. Firstly, the sentiment of love is almost always driven by
spiritual and high ethics values. Secondly, characters depicting love
sentiments, are surprisingly almost all the time are blood relations.
These results show that Ishfaq’s style in short story is heavily
influenced by tradition and the very environment, where Ishfaq
