The history of resistance is so old in Urdu literature. In the last few years, resistance has become an important part of Urdu literature. This article is about the resistance in John Elia’s poetry. John Elia was a well-known poet from Urdu who mostly wrote about love, grief, and the complexity of human emotions. With his fierce opposition to religious, governmental, and autocratic power systems, as well as his exploration of existential crises, John Elia's resistance poetry became a powerful voice against deeply ingrained conventional standards. He boldly highlighted the abuses and hypocrisy carried out by religious and autocratic authorities using moving metaphors and vivid imagery, inspiring readers to reject the bonds of conformity and stand up for their inalienable right to liberty. This article develops a better comprehension about the poetry of resistance in Urdu literature developed by John Elia.
